Christmas beads, wintry pictures and gloop!

After finally taking down our halloween decorations, the kids really wanted to make some wintry/Christmas things.
We started with some Christmas beads. They are made by cutting wrapping paper the length of a straw.
covering the back with glue
and rolling the paper around the straw.
until they end up like this.
then cut the paper straws up
and thread.

They do look better in real life than they do in the pictures, but you get the idea :o)
Wintry pictures were next, to replace the pumpkin pictures.
The kids drew trees with felt-tip pens, then got a white crayon and dotted all over the paper as snow, painted the sky and shadows of the trees with watercolour, and finally, with just water on a brush, swirled round the trees until the ink ran.

We played with chalk on sugar paper too
The snowmen were particularly effective. The kids loved being able to blend with their fingers.

Later, after some written work, we got out the cornflour, mixed it with water to make gloop!
It is one of those things where you just have to get stuck in :)

Little animals were brought along to join in the fun.

But watch out, it does get messy!!!!! or maybe that's just me :oP

Very creative,, love the snowmen. My boys would have loved being there. I went through weeks of having my boys raid the flour, making all their unusual mixes and of course the flour going all over the place. Looks like you had lots of fun. Your trip to Coinsbrough seemed interesting...
