Spring fun

I am still trying to catch up on some of the pictures taken over the last month, so here is a little taster of what we have been up to.
We loved the playground in the woods so much that when we heard that the ranger had planned another session we jumped at the opportunity to go again.
The kids got stuck in straight away.

Champ focused on shelter building again.
They sat down together near the end of the session and sang tent songs with the ranger :) well actually, she sang and the children stared at her.
Our two chicks are getting much bigger and can spend some time outdoors.
The kids made them a house using the dry grass cutting.
They changed it from a house into Chickwarts and added all the rooms that they could think of from Hogwarts :) It kept them busy ALL day and most of the next.
There are also 5 new calves in the next door field who were very skittish at first but now follow the children round and lick them :)
One of Brian's clients very recently had a baby so I made them a nappy cake, you can never have too many nappies with a newborn.
And we took some friends to one of our reservoir spots for a braai (barbecue) lunch.
It was a very blustery day so we used up many matches trying to get the fire lit. We eventually managed it and the kids enjoyed their hotdogs.
They then went off to collect sticks to cook their twists. I brought some thinned nutella to dip the cooked dough in, messy but delicious.
After food there was plenty of time for stone throwing, stone skipping and exploring.
And of course there were marshmallows :)

The lovely blossom trees near our house.
One of the local farms has sheep that always lamb later than the rest of the farms. Here is their first lamb of the season.
sooo cute!

Hatching chick!!!!

We timed the incubating of the chicks to make sure that we came back on hatching day. Since we got back late in the evening, we arrived home to meet Eric the chick, already fluffy.
We thought that the chick in the other egg was dead as Eric was kicking the egg around a lot in the incubator when he stumbled past it.
But about 10am the next day.... we had a cracking egg!!!
It was all very exciting.

Yay!

Eric was decidedly unimpressed :)
We have two more hatching this weekend! Fingers crossed for some more girls :)

Legoland!!!

After the party, we went to legoland for 2 days :)
Here we are, tired after spending 2 nights in hotels already, but determined not to miss anything.
Daddy feeding Kiki to the dinosaur.

Miniland

Amsterdam

And this is the last picture that the camera took before it broke :( from then on we used hubby's phone to take pictures.

That night we stayed at a hotel near heathrow airport. The kids loved watching all the planes fly over.
Day 2 :) It was even quieter on the second day and we were able to go on their favourtitre rides as often as they liked as there were virtually no queues. We went on LOADS of rides.

One last look around miniland or Hubby and the older two while I took the younger two back on the lego train.

By closing time we were EXHAUSTED! We had a wonderful day but it was even too much of an effort to smile for the camera.
Instead of driving home at rush hour, we stopped for some food besides Windsor castle.
