Toffee Apples!!!!

The kids and I have talked about trying to make some toffee apples for a few weeks and finally got round to it :o)
We didn't have any wooden lolly sticks so instead we pierced the apples with chopsticks, it's more environmentally friendly anyway :o)
Here is the recipe we used:

2 cups of sugar
3/4 cup of water
pinch of salt
1/2 cup of golden syrup
tiny bit of red food colouring (although we used orange instead)

Put all but the food colouring in a pot and boil it until you get to the light crack stage (after hard ball stage) then add the food colouring, dip in 9 apples and voila!

Shiny golden jewels!
I don't think that I need to comment on the rest of the pics :o)

Lots of sugar, but also lots of fun! The perfect time of year for apples. :)
