Yorkshire Air Museum

We had the most wonderful day at the yorkshire air museum.
The home ed group were invited to attend a days workshop given by a wonderful professor.
Did you know that if you blow over the top of a piece of paper like this, it lifts up
The workshop was so hands on that the Prof kept the kids attention the whole day.
Here he is teaching the kids about air flow and pressure around the wing of a plane. The chairs were in the shape of a plane and the two children had to run around the different shaped sides.
Making helicopters

After lunch we looked around the museum

It is a small but lovely museum! It is very hands on, perfect for children who like to touch to make it seem real.
A switch board!! I was very excited to see this :)
'Flying' a plane

More experiments on air pressure
And we made hovercrafts!!!
Then the younger two went to play with stomp rockets
And the older two experimented with rockets too.
But they were testing angles
More stomp rocket fun
Before finishing up with polystyrene planes

After the workshop the kids weren't ready to go home so we stayed until the museum closed
Kiki said that she was "writing a letter to a dearest friend" :)
