Camping day 2

So on our first full day of camping we got up early, went to she shops to get food for the day and then out to the beach!! We had glorious weather!
Kiki was the first one into the sea

Closely followed by Googs

The water was cold though :) Luckily it was a hot day and the kids warmed out quickly once they were dry

All four in the sea!

Milo collected seaweed

B went out to fish
Kiki collected starfish

Sandy nose!

Their collecting buckets were soon full

Starfish friends :)

Beach art while we warmed up
Champ found a prawn by crushing up barnacles and putting them on his hand, this little guy swan straight onto his hand

K found some mussels. B helped her collect enough mussels for us to cook over the fire. They were delicious!

Camping in Sunshine 1

Knowing that when living in England you have to make the most of the great weather when you have it, we had a spontaneous camping holiday! I lay in bed the night before looking at the weather report and then planning everything that we had to pack. Luckily Hubby was able to join us, we packed up the following morning and drove for 4 hours to our campsite.
We managed to get a great spot!
This was our private garden :)
Hubby got the food going as soon as we got the tent up.

Happily eating together
After food we were free to explore!

And we found huge sand dunes! We were trying to find the sea.
A sandy walk to the sea

We found it! The first time we've been to the sea for a few years.

The sun was going down so the light was gorgeous
We had the beach to ourselves

There were little jellyfish and starfish all over the beach

Not only was there miles of sand, there was also rocks for rock pooling too!

See how many shells and rocks Googs collected and carried in his pouch :)
Milo wasn't too sure of the sea though :)

We walked back to the tent just as the sun set.

Missing teeth and funny faces

Googs has lost a tooth! In fact, he lost quite a few over the summer. He wanted me to take this picture of him and his gap :)
Kiki, not to be outdone, wanted to pull faces too

Well, since we are pulling faces :)

Googs, so happy with all his teeth falling out, wrote a letter of thanks. The person on the right of the picture is the tooth fairy, can you see her wings :)

London

Our last day in London. This was the view of Windsor castle from our hotel room.
After riding on the train and the underground, we were able to see another of the Queen's houses, Buckingham palace.
The last time I was here was the day that Diana died. I was on my way to Holland and got to Buckingham palace early in the morning, flowers were only starting to be laid at the gates.
It must be strange to grow up always having people gawking at you.
I tried to get everyone into this shot, Kiki didn't want to pose because she was cross that we didn't go and ring the queen's doorbell to say hello. She thought that we were being rude :)

We then walked back into the hustle and bustle of Piccadilly circus.
Here was Hubby looking rather short next to the model of the tallest man :)

And a two headed calf, poor thing.

Then over to Trafalgar square

Nelson's column

Where the children climbed onto the lions

Helping each other climb the steps

Out of everything, they were most excited about spotting Big Ben!
Next time we will get much closer to Big Ben.
